In 1994, Commonwealth Biomedical Research, LLC was established as an independent investigational research site in Madisonville, Kentucky with one goal in mind; Doing research today, helping families of tomorrow. Commonwealth Biomedical Research is committed to excellence in the care of patients and volunteers who enroll in pharmaceutical sponsored clinical research trials. Since its inception, CBR has conducted over 100 clinical trials in a wide range of medical specialties for the pharmaceutical industry. CBR’s experienced research staff of professional clinical coordinators with diverse backgrounds, as well as regulatory recruiting, data entry, budget and contract expertise, provides sponsors with a hands-on management team. This combination of highly trained professionals makes CBR a valuable resource for companies conducting Phase 1 through Phase IV clinical trials.
Bret A. Wittmer, MD, the Medical Director and primary investigator at CBR is a Board Certified family physician, certified clinical investigator and certified medical acupuncturist utilizing both traditional medical approaches and acupuncture therapy in the total care of his patients. Dr. Wittmer is a 1998 graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his residency in Family Practice at Trover Foundation in Madisonville, Kentucky in June 2001. CBR is equipped to conduct Phase 1 through Phase IV clinical research studies.
The inpatient unit is staffed 24 hours a day with experienced, highly trained research personnel to conduct timed evaluations as required by research protocols. CBR provides a state of the art inpatient unit located in Madisonville, Kentucky. The inpatient facility provides 24 beds in semiprivate rooms with secured access, a monitored security system and a large comfortable lounge complete with recliners, large flat screen TV’s, a kitchen area and activities for patients. An on-site and off-site CLIA Certified Lab is available and provides rapid results for a wide variety of blood and urine tests. We can provide in-house telemetry and EKG’s at sponsor’s request. Special dietary requirements are available at sponsor’s request.
